According to a plaque affixed to the front of a modest house, before Christopher Wren made this unassuming London building his home during the reconstruction of St. Paul's Cathedral, another famous person took shelter here: Eleanor of Aragon, soon to be married to King Henry VIII of England, landed and sheltered here on her first night in London.
The plaque attesting to these famous residents is affixed to the front of the home at 49 Bankside. It reads as follows:
"Here lived Sir Christopher Wren during the building of St Paul's Cathedral. Here also in 1502 Catherine Infanta of Castille and Aragon, afterwards first Queen of Henry VIII, took shelter on her first landing in London"
