Depicted highly decorative Baroque Marian (Plague) Column is situated in the middle of recently reconstructed Liberty Square (Námestí svobody), the main public space of town Valtice.
The Marian column bearing a statue of Immaculata together with the statues of four Saints (Sebastian, Roch, Ignatius and Charles Borromeo) on the pedestal was erected at the expenses of Prince Prince Karl Eusebius of Liechtenstein (1680) in a memory of the plague epidemies in 1645 and 1679. Statues are work of Viennese sculptor Mathias Gunst.
