A GIANT globe has been unveiled at the gateway to Heathrow airport.

Turkish Airlines are behind the masterpiece located on land dubbed the 'Icon Site' which is on the approach to Terminal 2, currently under construction to house Star Alliance members.
To celebrate the pending arrival of the new building, Heathrow’s owners have created several spaces around the site to allow various airlines to create new advertising.
Turkish Airlines globe is the first of these and was completed and unveiled on Monday (25).
The 7.5 tonnes steel and glass-reinforced plastic structure attached with five mini Boeing 777 aircraft, names of some of the 200 cities the carrier flies to including Istanbul, Cape Town and the Maldives, is 6.5 metres in diameter and has been built to strengthen the airline's brand awareness.
The globe is expected to attract the attention of an estimated 17 million passengers a year as they arrive and depart the airport.
In addition Turkish Airlines has placed a sign at the entrance to the tunnel linking the airport to the city stating “more than 200 destinations”, as well as third display saying farewell to passengers."
