A viewfinder on a dark gray painted plinth situated on the highest point of the 571 feet Dundee Law, a former volcanic plug which dominates the city. Being centrally positioned the view takes in the entire city and surrounding area. The inscription on the table reads as follows, "Presented by magistrates & town council of Dundee, David Mathers. convener." The locations on the indicator take in not just nearby places, but also distant peaks of the mountains many miles away, which can be spotted on a clear day.
