Mission San Antonio de Padua was the third Mission in California founded by Spanish Franciscan friars. There is no sign about the mill AT the site of the mill...but the Mission's Museum has a replica which indicates that the mill was built in 1810. A donkey or ox was used to turn a grist stone to grind grain. Wheat was cultivated here by the Missionaries. There was also a water-powered grist mill here that had been built in 1806.
