The church dates from the second half of the 15th century and was originally connected to the tower. The building known as the tower, ship low and high choir. Around 1592 destroyed part of the ship (siege of Coevorden). The remainder of the ship is put in 1628 at the same level as the choir and the west facade then bricked. Since then separated church and tower.
Gothic church remains just messed eastern part and the free-standing tower (ca. 1450-1500). The nave would have collapsed in the 80-year war - or the church never phased by lack of money? When the church was given a plaster in 1862, remained the furniture, including two 17th century town banks reasonably intact.
