"The Calaveras County Bank looks almost exactly the same today as it did when first constructed of native stone in 1900 during the hardrock gold mining boom in Angels Camp.
The two-story, Classical Revival building served as a bank for more than forty years of its history. Built of rhyolite tuff quarried locally, it still retains the interior vault, tile floors, Lincrusta Walton wallpaper, marble wainscoting, and room configuration that it had when designed by San Francisco architects Depierre and Righetti.
During the years, 1937-1980, when it was used as the Calaveras Meat Market, a meat hoist and showcases were installed, but were removed and the bank was restored.
