This is a replica of a grist mill which once stood on the grounds of Mission San Antonio de Padua. The mill used an animal...probably a donkey or an ox to turn in circles which turned the grist stone to grind grain. The original mill was built in 1810. The original mill no longer exists but there are several millstones in the area which may be original.
