Der Bär ist das Wappentier von Anhalt und dem daraus entstandenem Sachsen Anhalt.
Daher ist es auch nicht verwunderlich, dass das Völkerschlachtdenkmal von Lindau durch einen Bären geziert wird.
1913 wurden zahlreiche Nationaldenkmäler zum Gedenken an den Sieg über Napoleon gebaut. Das bekannteste steht in Leipzig.
