Hamilton Park racecourse is situated just off the M74 motorway heading south from Glasgow. It is the solitary flat only racecourse in Scotland.

Racing began here in 1782 with the present racecourse opened in 1926. The first ever evening meeting in Britain was staged here in 1947 and the bulk of its fixtures today continue to be evening meetings.

Among the most prestigious races are the Glasgow Stakes, formerly run at York, and the Lanark Silver Bell, formerly run at the old racecourse at Lanark. Most fixtures nowadays are themed like Braveheart Night and there is usually music acts after racing, the racecourse now is renowned as a top musical venue as well as other social gatherings like weddings. By far the two most well known and attended meetings of the year are the Saints and Sinners charity night in June and Ladies Night at the end of July. These are the most glamorous occasions of the summer and the opportunity for gents to wear suits and ladies to wear dresses and hats. The dress code at Hamilton is usually casual for the most part.

Parking is free and right next to the entrance on Bothwell Road. There is only one enclosure and for most meetings the admission is £20. Under 16s free if accompanied by an adult.

Betting on site, bars and restaurants. Panhandle track, long straight with loop at end on highest point. On longest races the runners start in front of stands and head off in opposite direction. Parking free.
