A guitar is shown on Lester Robertson's side of the headstone that he shares with his wife, Lillian. By all accounts, he was a pretty good guitarist.

This modern, gray granite headstone has the family name, "Robertson", on both sides. Both Lillian and Lester have an open book (with a bookmark) on their respective sides, which includes their personal dates, and in the center of the headstone is a heart, with "Married April 26, 1943" inside. Lillian has a rose under her book, while Lester has a guitar under his.

Not too far from here is the Flower Mound Heritage Walk, in the Robertson's Creek Shopping Center, named for the Robertsons. They are the subject of one of the plaques there, noting their prominence as citizens of the old Waketon community. The plaque provides some background:

Lester and Lillian Calvert Robertson (daughter of early Waketon pioneer, John Calvert) were married in 1943 and were the last owners of this property, selling it in 2006 for the development of Robertson's Creek Shopping Center. Lester and Lillian grew up one-half mile from each other in Waketon, just a few yards from JC Penny [sic]. They had two children, Linda and Don.

When Lillian was young, she learned to bake award-winning pies, cakes and cobblers. She had a green thumb and a passion for roses. Lillian worked at the Voertman's Bookstore on the UNT campus for 36 years, retiring at the age of 84.

When Lester was young, he farmed Doc Robertson's land with his father and uncle. It took him half a day to plow one acre of farmland walking behind a 3-horse team. As a top athlete, he played baseball and basketball at Old Bethel School and football for Lewisville High School. In later years he continued the tradition of his grandfather and father by raising cattle and hay on this site.

Lester was a veteran of WWII. At the age of 29, he was drafted into the US Army Corps. As an engineer, he maintained B-17 Flying Fortress bombers and P-38 Lightning long range fighters. He was stationed in Arizona, New Guinea and the Philippines. Lester Robertson passed away in 2007 during the construction of Robertson's Creek. He was 94 years old.

Lester's father, Oscar, is also the subject of a plaque, and there is a reference to both of their skills as musicians:

Like Waketon pioneers before him, Oscar Robertson arrived from Alabama in 1891 when he was nine years old. His wife, Eva Lester (daughter of Waketon resident C.B. Lester) was born in Waketon in 1889. In 1905, at the age of sixteen, she married Oscar.

The couple moved to a farm near Waketon Road. They had three children: Sudie, Eulis and Lester. Together they raised watermelons, cotton, hogs, cattle, chickens and geese. To further provide for the family, Oscar became the community barber and produce vendor in downtown Dallas.

In addition, Oscar was known as the volunteer community veterinarian who gained his knowledge of animal anatomy by reading veterinary books. For amusement on Saturday nights Oscar would accompany his son Lester, an accomplished guitar player, with banjo music of his own. Neighbors nearby would often join in the music-making and fun. Oscar owned the land where Robertson's Creek now stands from the early 1920's until his death in 1963.
