Centralia PA was once a bustling coal-mining town in the heart of PA. A coal seam fire started in 1962 has resulted in the evacuation of nearly all the 1,100 residents and the demolition of nearly all the buildings.

Today, not much remains. Of the seven churches that once served the community only Our Lady of the Assumption still stands. The others, including Saints Peter and Paul, were demolished starting in the 1970's.

Today, the cemeteries are all that remains of those earlier times. The cross in this cemetery is one of the few things that has been carefully preserved, as has the cemetery itself.

The cemetery is accessible by following South Street (carefully) from State Route 61.
