Opened in 1973 as Royals Stadium, this park became Kauffman Stadium in 1993 as a tribute to the Royals' founding owner, Ewing Kauffman. It was built at a time when "cookie cutter" stadiums were being constructed, and today, it is considered a gem among baseball parks. "The K", as they call it, was brought into the 21st century with a renovation that took place between 2007 and 2009, providing more facilities and more attractions. Somewhere along the line, wi-fi caught on, and it is a free, unrestricted amenity.
