The Martin Luther King Promenade has several of his quotes etched in the pavement. The Promenade is adjacent to the San Diego Convention Center and San Diego's famous Gaslamp District.
This quote reads:

"America owes a debt of justice which it has only begun to pay. If it loses the will to finish or slackens in its determination, history will recall its crimes and the country that would be great will lack the most indispensable element of greatness — justice."

This website (visit link) indicates that the quote is from Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community? (1967), p. 109.
Civil Right Type: Race (includes U.S. Civil Rights movement)
