At the cemetery of the Protestant Church in Rottevalle are three Commonwealth war graves.
These are the graves of the dead on 15-01-1942:
Flight Sergeant (Air Ob.) Sydney Clarence Camp, R / 71752, RCAF, 23 years
Sergeant (Pilot) Eric John Richards, 1,162,205, RAF, age unknown
Sergeant (Air Gnr.) Reginald James White, 624 058, RAF, age unknown
On January 15, 1942 at 17:58 departed from airbase RAF Dishforth, the Whitley Z9424 of the No. 51 Squadron RAF with the mission: a bombing raid on the port of Emden. The aircraft was shot down over the Netherlands by the German night fighter Unteroffizier Kurt Zipperlein, 4./NJG1 and then crashed down to 3:30 in Rottevalle. Three of the six crew members died in the crash, they are buried here. The other three crew members were taken prisoner by the Germans.
