[EN] Designed in 1788 by utopian architect Claude Nicolas Ledoux, the Rotonde Stalingrad, also known as the Barrière Saint-Martin, was one of the most imposing built by the architect. It is heavily influenced by classical architecture and the Italian Renaissance with its triangular pediments, Doric pillars, 40 coupled columns topped by Roman arches, and skylight illuminating the central courtyard. When the toll was abolished in 1791, the building became a municipal fire-hall and then a salt warehouse before housing a pleasant restaurant.
