The point of the exercise here is fine beer, and the Flying Saucer does it well, with a good number of beers on tap (with regular rotators on cask), and plenty in the bottle. There is a small selection of wines if beer isn't your thing. Seating is at the bar or at one of the many tables or booths. There's a nice view of traffic along Walnut Street, and sometimes, they'll have the windows open. That's good for fresh air, but look out for buses when they stop at the light!

Sundays are $3 local Missouri pint nights, Mondays are $3 pints for most everything on draft that isn't high octane. Trivia Night is on Tuesday, where you can answer tough trivia questions and compete for prizes. Wednesdays are brewery nights, where you purchase that night's beer in a glass provided by the brewery, and sometimes, the brewery's representative will be on hand. Thursdays feature the tapping of some kind of rare beer.

At one time, food was fairly predictable here, but more often now, they will change the menu. All the Flying Saucer locations offer a variant of the same theme, with a few differences here and there -- the Marsellus Wallace was new to me on my recent visit -- but some have kitchen facilities, some do not: Check their website for the current fare, and their beer menu is also online.

They do offer free WiFi service, and all you need to do is ask for the password.

You will see a large number of personalized plates along the wall and ceiling. This is your payoff for joining the UFO club, in which you pay for a shirt and a card that you run through their computer every time you visit any Flying Saucer location. You can log up to three beers a day, and once you hit 200, they'll have a party for you and put your name on a plate on the wall/ceiling. Depending on how many times you go through the Ring of Honor, you may get a bigger party (in terms of $$$) or a prize like a shirt, a stein, or even a trip to Great American Beer Fest (at ten times through). You'll also get rewards at 50, 100, and 150 beers, something of a carrot to keep you moving along. QDV did his fifth plate here, and it's #29 on the wall if you'd like to go find it.

Check their calendar for special events, as any given Flying Saucer may do beer tastings with Cicerones or knowledgeable representatives from breweries, sometimes pairing their beers with complementary food.
