Stammburg der Herren von Isenburg. Um 1100 erbaut. Im 13. Jahrhundert bewohnen die 4 an der Burg beteiligten Familienstämme folgende Häuser: Isenburgisches oder altes Haus - Kobernhaus - Haus Wied Frauen- oder Runkeisches Haus Gemeinsam nutzte man Bergfried, Falkenhaus, Tore und Brücken. 1625 war die Burg noch bewohnt. 1633 wird sie von spanischen Truppen besetzt. In der Folgezeit ist die Burg dann verfallen.
