White Oak Sinks is a less frequented site in the Cades Cove area. It is an approximate 6-mile round trip from the parking area. Walk up the Schoolhouse Gap Trail. A short distance, less than 100 yards, past the junction with the Turkeypen Ridge Trail you will see a trail dropping off to the left. Follow that trail to the Sinks. Turn right at the trail junction in the Sinks to reach the waterfall.

The Sinks is a small depression crisscrossed with trails. There are several caves in the area, all closed to humans. If you are into wildflowers the Sinks are the place to be in late April. At times the Sinks are closed to protect the bat colonies.

I have added a link below. I have been there several times but have never seen the artifacts the website shows.

My photos were taken in September 2016, dry season, so there was not much water in the falls. There was an interesting layer of mist.
