The clock has the appearance of a (very Large) stop watch. It has a loop at the top for a chain or lanyard similar to a stop watch. A winding knob that would be used on a stop watch to wind it up and on each side of the winder are the buttons for stopping and starting a stop watch but, in this case, they are for show and serve no purpose. The watch has a round face behind glass. Unlike a stop watch it only has the hour and minute hands with no way of displaying seconds. The hour marks are Arabic numerals and, like the hands and minute marks are coloured black. The year "1879" van be seen on the face as can the words "Grand Cafe ......" and "33 Boulevard des Munte".
