Mayen Ost was the junction pont of two local railway-trackes. One coming from Koblenz and ending in Mayen (Maifeldbahn) and the one from Andernach to Gerolstein (Eifel-Querbahn). For this reasing a depot was installed there. It was closed in the 1970s after operating the railway with steam-locomotives has ended. In the 1990s the roundhouse has been renewed as a building for business. Currently a Mongolian restaurant is placed inside.
