Brazos Valley Veterans Memorial Website

Titled “HOT LZ,” the monument features a bronze UH-1D Huey helicopter plate with soldiers preparing to drop at a dangerous landing zone. The 5,000-pound structure is reinforced by 18-inch-thick concrete and stands more than 15 feet high. Crafted by local sculptor J. Payne Lara.
