Mr. Lane, an attorney, has served the city of Fort Worth as city councilman for the past five years. He has a long record of support and leadership for heritage tourism and preservation in the Historic Stockyards. He was one of the key persons to propose and support implementation of the city government’s highly successful Longhorn Herd program in the Stockyards as well as a key community leader responsible for the success of the Historic Stockyards, a strong advocate for gaining more recognition for the important historic and contemporary roles played by Hispanics, Native American and women.

Throughout the walkways of the Fort Worth National Historic District, bronze inlaid markers have been placed in honor of their achievements.
