A firefighter dress in full gear greets visitors entering the Toy 'R' Us store on Boston Road in Springfield. The firefighter is depicted wearing protective clothing with a helmet, mask, gloves, and oxygen tank. The firefighter holds an ax in his right hand over his right shoulder. He is leaning forward with his knees bent and his left leg in front of his right leg.

The fighter is displayed on a partially glass enclosed 3' square platform. A sign on the front gives the details of the sculpture. It is inscribed:
