Ooit was dit de toegangspoort van het Coolsingelziekenhuis. Door het bombardement is merendeel van het ziekenhuis verwoest. De poort is op de oude plek in de jaren zestig steen voor steen afgebroken en hiervoor in de plaats kwam het Dijkzigtziekenhuis. De poort is herbouwd op de Korte Lijnbaan waar vlakbij het oude ziekenhuis stond.

This used to be the gateway of the Coolsingel hospital. By the bombardment in may 1940, is most of the hospital destroyed. The arche is on the old spot in the 1960's brick by brick broken down and in its place came the Dijkzigt hospital. The gate has been rebuilt on the 'Korte Lijnbaan' where ones the old hospital was located.
