This herd path is located roughly a mile from the Phelps Mountain trail junction (N 44 08.491 W 073 55.717) just before Indian Falls and the Mount Marcy ascent. Tabletop is considered "trailless", and the path is not maintained, however, there is a cairn at the turnoff, and a wooden sign on the summit. I've posted a picture of the trail junction that shows the sign for the turnoff, but the sign is very much in the shadows...

In fact, once upon a time, there was a canister in which a logbook could be foun for 46rs to log their ascent. The most recent guidebook describes the removal of the canister, but I think I found the tree stump on which it was once affixed, as there is a metal tab and a bail or screw holding it in place.

Views are very limited, abstracted mostly by dead or dying alpine zone trees.
Altitude in Feet: 4427
