There are at least two cannon set near the historical sign for Fort Melvine.
Fort Melvine was the name given at one time for the Presidio of Monterey. The Presidio is still an active military base- home of the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLI-FLC).
There is no sign however at the site providing additional information about the cannon.
There is an additional cannon (already Waymarked) below...near the entrance to the Presidio Museum.
