Convenient to the courthouse. Downieville was once a part of Yuba County. It took a close vote to finally become an independent county.

The only trffic light in the county is at Sierraville. Most roads are not straight enough to drive fast, and that just doesn't work when they are icy. Difficult enough when one is alternately in bright light or shadows.
