The Praça do Mar is a large area just back of the Avenida Infante de Sagres in Quarteira. The Avenida is the seafront promenade and runs from Rua do Poço Romano, Roman Well Street, by the beach area in the east to Largo Mercado, the Market Square, in the west.
Also on this praça is the Galeria de Arte which holds art exhibitions which change throughout the year, one of the three fountains is along the wall of the gallery. The other two fountains are in quadrant-shaped pools either side of the main walkway from the Avenida to the galllery, these two pools are at a lower level than the one by the gallery.
