This church's consecration is dated at 1495 when King John II visited the village. The present building is C16th and is of the Manueline style. The church retains a lot of its original work, in particular the entrance doorways, of which the main door is a work of originality. In a Broken Bow style based on thin small columns of twisted stems, it is framed by a polycentric arch with crowns and twisted finials. The north and south doorways are simpler, the south side having some similarities with the main doorway with its intertwined stems and twisted finials in the contra-curved soffit, the North doorway being even more simple.
The interior is of a nave with aisles either side separated by arches on octagonal pillars whose capitals are decorated with horizontally plaited stems.
The baptismal font is enclosed in the baptistry which has a metal door in a frame enabling it to be shut off from the church. It is a wide classical style bowl on a short pillar set on a plinth with concave mouldings. It has a timber cover with cross.
