This memorial is dedicated to the memory of SFC Nathan Ross Chapman, the first American soldier killed by enemy fire in Afghanistan in the War on Terror, January 4, 2002.

Center of the memorial is a bronze statue of SFC Chapmen by sculpture Bob Pack in his military uniform with his rifle in his right hand. Behind the statue are two plaques.
