Das Brunnenwasser fließt seit 1836. Es kommt aus 240 Meter Tiefe durch natürlichen Druck an die Oberfläche. Aber nicht mehr in der ursprünglich erhofften Menge. Neben der Fontäne unter der kleinen Tempelanlage (ein Rundbau mit Goldfischbecken von 1906 und 1991 rekonstruiert) gibt es eine Zapfstelle (1990 nach einem Entwurf von Rolf Roeder errichtet). Das Wasser kommt von den südlich-südwestlich der Stadt liegenden Höhenzügen in wasserführenden, gespannten Schichten unter die Stadt geflossen. Es hat eine geringe Wasserhärte.

Einstmals floss hier viel Wasser (ca. 560 Liter pro Minute)- seit dem Wiederaufbau ist es deutlich weniger. (visit link)

This Artesian Well exist since 1836. The water comes from a depth of 240 meter. There is a fountain below a small temple and a tap connection nearby. Formerly the spring gave 560 liter water per minute. That is about 10 liter per second or 7th Magnitude. Nowadays the volume of water is lower.
