In Buckland, south of Shelburne Falls village, is the Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum.
The museum is located about a half mile south of the village, off Ashfield Road. The facility is located at the end of a driveway, beyond a freight depot on the left.
The museum is a modest facility but is well worth a stop. The main building is actually three: The gift-shop/visitor center, and two storage barns. The gift shop is where you pay the ticket for the trolley - really reasonable. Around the room there are framed articles. Also, there are books and other artifacts, as well as a train layout - and a Breda train layout. The barn on the right is where the trolley is stored. In front of the storage barn on the left is a caboose that people can climb in. Also on the property are maintenance of way vehicles, where a staff person teaches you how to operate a hand car.
The trolley does run. The length of the route is not long, maybe 500ft - but you can ride as many times as you want. The trolley once rode between Shelburne Falls and the nearby town of Colrain.
