A combat veteran of the VIII Army/Air (60 missions) and also Vietnam, Chuck Yeager is also known as a atest pilot, the man who broke Mach II /the sound barrier.

When he retired, this was the place he came. This memorial includes a F-104 which many have only seen in the air, and a set of five plaques. Yeager retired as a B. General, having flown and trained others to fly F-104s for thirty years. It was dedicated by Pres. Bush.
Yeager attributes his survival and success to good eyesight.
He was presented the Collier Trophy by Prs. Harry Truman, the Harmon International Trophy by Pres. Eisenhower; the Presidential Medal of Honor in 1985. He replicated the flight of the first recor (which wa classified for almost a year) in 1997 at the age of 89. It marked the 65th aniversary of that event.
Yeager died jan 2020 at 97. Feature i elks magazine, 6/2023.
Yeager was inducted into the Aviation hall of Fame in 1973. He was also Aerospace safety officer at Norton AFB CA. Literally thousands of hours ot flight time! 10,000 on
360 different aircraft.
