The plaque overlooking the jetty is set in the middle of the dual-use path along West Coast Dr, this is the second jetty to be built on the site, the first was constructed in the early 1900's and was demolished , blown-up by the army, when it became too dangerous to access. After years of protests the second jetty was built although only one third the length of the original in the early 1970's . The jetty is a popular fishing spot.
The wording on the plaque reads:-
"The original North Beach Jetty stood off the coast from the early 1900's , until it's demolition in 1966. For many years it was a popular destination for beach visitors and recreational fishers"
Age/Event Date: 1900's 1966
