"1849
CALIFORNIA STATE
CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION
Colton Hall serves as the site of the first California
constitutional convention. Forty-eight delegates from
ten districts in California debate for six weeks to create
the state's first constitution. This constitution was
written in both Spanish and English."
