About 150 metres south of the border, this old Burlington Northern caboose, number 10299, has been put on display on the east side of Highway 395. Built in June of 1962, it served the railway until its retirement thirty years later, in August of 1992.

On the other side of the highway, about 100 metres west, the railway still runs, crossing the border here. Long since abandoned by the Burlington Northern, it is now operated by the Kettle Falls International Railway, a small regional railway with 133 miles of track, based in Kettle Falls, WA.

This is a fairly standard looking cupola caboose, all steel, AAR Type M930.
