The plaque says, "Zorach was considered a leader in the Modern Movement during the 1930s. He began sculpting in 1917, working first in wood and then in stone. This larger than life size statue was cast in aluminum, an innovative use of the material in the 1930s. Although the statue represents a nine-foot tall figure, it weighs less than a three-foot statue cast in bronze. The was one of three statues which were removed from the Music Hall immediately before its opening, as they were considered risqué. The statues were later returned to the theater after public criticism."
