Elk's Rest Cemetery was established in 1907 by Dallas Chapter No. 71 of the Beneficial and Protective Order of the Elks. Members in good standing could be buried here if they so chose.
The cemetery monument consists of a large local stone boulder with a plaque on it that reads as follows:

Dallas, Texas"
