Berwyn was the name of the town before it became Gene Autry in 1941, honoring the singer who owned the Flying A Ranch here. The family name, "Hardy", is on the plinth, and atop the headstone is a Holy Bible, atop funeral draping. Above the Woodmen emblem is "He giveth his beloved sleep", and below is the inscription:
Lon Hardy
Born Feb. 14, 1877
Died Aug. 31, 1919.
How desolate our home bereft of thee.
Was the inscription legible?: Yes
