In Waltham, on the Waltham Common, is this monument celebrating the quincentennial (500th Anniversary) to Christopher Columbus, who went on expeditions west to discover portions of the North and South America continents.
The monument is in the southwest corner of the common, within sight of the intersection of Moody Street and Carter Street. It is also south west of the Circle of Remembrance Plaza.
The monument is a granite slab with the following on it:
