The Republic Post Office is a nice size building and well maintained. It was dedicated in 1961. It also has a 666 mailbox. The current population of Republic is 1,083 as of 2013.
Republic is the county seat for Ferry County and has a beautiful Art Deco courthouse, city offices and several murals depicting how life was during the mining boom.
Republic offers tourists and locals an abundance of opportunities to emerge oneself in the local history. Visit Stonerose Interpretive Center and explore the Eocene Fossil Site, learn about the mining boom that played a major role in the development of the area at the museum. Just a short distance NW from the post office is what remains of the Knob Hill Mine that produced more than $10,000,000 worth of gold by the end of 1951.
