This trail starts out paved and changes at the bridge.
Sand Pond is a popular swimming area because it is shallow, has a sandy base, and is a Day use area near Sardine Lake campground.
It has picnic tables, paved parking, and vault restroom.
The view of the Sierra Buttes is awesome.
The trail is not brushed out.
Some signage denotes early mining history.
There was a major fire to the east (maybe 10 years ago).
