A lot of subdivisions have hills, but this one has its own parking lot and a series of outdoor staircase to the top. Currently named Prayer Mountain, formerly Mount Baldy and before that, Mount Edith.

Roadside America

Mount Baldy juts up out of the Woodcreek subdivision. A series of outdoor staircases leads from its parking area to the summit.

Several years ago the congregation of Trinity Church purchased Mount Baldy and renamed it Prayer Mountain, although the public is still welcome. From the top you can see the Wimberley Valley and another large hill, just across Hwy 2325.

In 1900 both were purchased by the Lowery family and were named for their daughters, Edith and Edna. Mount Baldy was originally Edith.
