Congregation was organized in the 1840's. In 1877 the congregation acquired this property and built a Carpenter Gothic Style Frame Church.
On May 18, 1902, the church was destroyed by an F4 tornado. Within a year the church was rebuilt using wood from the former building. Danish born architect, Jules Leffland, designed the church.
