In Waltham, along Main Street, is this dated stone bearing the year, 1914, for the Waltham Public Library.
The library is located on the north side of Main Street, east of the Post Office on the south side of the road. The building is brick and has two sets of stairs winding to the front entrance. Between the two stairways is the dated stone, about three feet off the ground.
The stone simply has the year, "1914."
The building was built for the library in 1914, with dedication ceremonies occurring on December 11, 1915. Since then, several additions have been added, the latest being in 1994, which doubled the space of the library at that time.
