Located near other sculptures of extinct creatures, this life-sized sculpture has a placard which informs us:

"Extinct Jefferson's Ground Sloth

Named by Thomas Jefferson, this animal's
scientif name means 'great claw.' Four kinds
of ground sloths roamed North America
during the Pleistocene, and three of them
lived here in Southern California. Jefferson's
were plant eaters that foraged in forests.

Location: North America
Similar living animal: Two-toed tree sloth.
