Torrey Pines State Park offers several hiking trails that provide fantastic views of the Pacific Ocean to the west and Penasquitos Lagoon to the east. Also see sandstone formations, chaparral, and the rare Torrey pine tree.
This website (visit link)
has additional photos and informs us:

"Overview: The beach trail brings you from the parking lot across the lodge from the bluff down to the beach. You can choose to visit the Red Butte, the Razor Point and the Yucca Point trails along the way. Of the other trails, this trail seems to provide the most complete walk through of geological features discussed in the park's "Geology Walk" article; it also provides a gradual descent down to the beach suitable for children.

Tips: Reserve hours: 7am-sunset.
No dogs/horses/bicycles/picnics on trail.

Warning: do not walk too close to the cliff -- rock and sand fall is possible due to wind and water erosion.

This terrain is unshaded from sun and unshielded from wind -- sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and wind jacket are all appropriate to bring.

Military aircrafts fly over this area fairly frequently (it used to be a military exercise arena), so be prepared for some loud engines while you are there.

1.5 liters of water should suffice on a cool day, 2L+ may be needed on hot days.

The Flora and fauna here are great for photography: the humming birds are harder to capture, but the torrey pines and cacti are there for you to enjoy more easily. Binoculars may help while looking for dolphins from the Razor or Yucca Points.

For a longer loop, you have the option to return via the broken hill trail to either the north fork or the south fork trail and then a paved road, adding around 2 miles to the trip. You can also walk along the beach to get back to the park entrance."
