This pleasant swimming and snorkeling area is used by many local swimmers who like to swim laps in the ocean. The Outrigger Canoe Club Beach is located just east of Sans Souci Beach and fronts the Outrigger Canoe Club.
You will find a nice flat bar of reef that encompasses much of the area with lots of marine life, located about 50 yards into the ocean. Sans Souci Beach is also a haven for swimmers, kayakers and surfers who take advantage of a natural ocean channel located on the left hand side of the reef and beach.
Sans Souci, the name of a small hotel that once stood where the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel is now, means “without care” in French. The famous author Robert Louis Stevenson stayed at the hotel for five weeks in 1893 and wrote about the area.
