The Boyne Valley trail is a 1.5 km long trail that descends from the trailhead into the Boyne River Valley. Two bridges over the river allow the trail to form a loop. At the far end of the loop, the trail continues north until it reaches Highway 2. This portion of the Boyne Valley is very marshy. At the north and south ends of the trail the river flows in a single course, but through the middle of the valley, innumerable tiny channels twist and flow through the reeds. Lots of birds call this their home during the summer. Given the marshy nature of the area, you can expect that portions of the trail may be wet.

The trailhead sign also provides information about a 2.5 km walking route through the town of Treherne.

There is no parking area for the trailhead, but free street parking is available.
